How to Host a Group Session on Spotify

Good news for all the Spotify Premium members out there. Recently, Spotify has launched a new feature with which the premium membership holder will be able to host a Group Session with any five Spotify users anywhere around the world. Now the new feature is available on Spotify for remote use. So now, you and your friends can enjoy your favourite podcast or music together with Spotify Premium membership. And the best part is, you do not need to be actually present in the same room. Spotify announced this feature early this year, and you can see how quickly the remote listening function has arrived on the app.

During the beginning of May this year, Spotify declared openly about the Group Session element for premium members that will give them the control of podcasts and music. The host just has to select a song or podcast or playlist on the app, press Now Playing, and click ok the speaker shaped icon. Another exciting feature that your friends can have is that they can scan the code that generates on your phone and enjoy the same kind of access to the Spotify app.

Initially, the app asked all the joining members to scan the code via the phone of the host or a screenshot, but for this, all the joining members we’re required to be in the same place or location to stream on Spotify.

However, recently, Spotify has added the option of link sharing for Group Sessions instead of scanning any code. Due to this, no matter whether you are in the same room or miles apart, you can listen to your favourite podcast with your friends. The host will just have to send you the link through any social media or text message, and when you get the link, you can easily access and control Spotify. Each member can play a new song, pause the old one, or select any other song easily. The maximum limit of members that can be added into the Group Session is currently five.

Starting a Group Session

Start by opening the Spotify app on your phone or tablet. Then select the podcast, playlist, or song to want to stream. Click on the Now Playing button that you will find just above the home button bar and press the Connect option from the bottom left side of the interface. There you can find the Start a Group Session button on which you have to click. Then you will be given the code and the link to share with your group. Copy your link and paste it on any messaging app to send it to your group. Now, as all the group members click on your link, they will promptly get the control of your Spotify account, and then you can have fun.

With this incredible feature, you can enjoy streaming on Spotify, be it a new EDM playlist or a motivational podcast. You can chill and hang out with your mates on Spotify, even if you are countries apart. This looks to be a promising step by the popular music streaming platform towards a more united and collaborative future.
